The labor reform deadlines that have already passed

The labor reform stopped being news over a year ago. Its deadlines did not. Three have already passed on you, and the fourth arrived with no transition period.

DateWhat came due or took effect
June 25, 2026Deadline to update internal work rules with disciplinary due process
June 2026The hiring quota for people with disabilities stopped being optional
July 31, 2026Filing of the 2025 self-assessment and improvement plan with the SGRL
August 6, 2026Decree 1040: harassment, violence, and discrimination policy and protocol, with no transition

What changed in payroll in July 2026?

Two things, on two different dates in the same month. On July 1 the Sunday and holiday premium rose to 90%. On July 15 the working week dropped to 42 hours and the monthly divisor went from 220 to 210 hours. If your July payroll went out with only one adjustment, there is back pay waiting in there.

When does the Sunday premium reach 100%?

July 1, 2027. Today it stands at 90%. You can adopt it early if you want to, and that is your call, not an obligation.

What time does the night shift start?

At 7:00 p.m., not 9:00. The night premium is still 35%, so a Sunday night shift today stacks 35% on top of 90%.

What does Decree 1040 of 2026 require?

A prevention policy built together with workers and the union, a protocol with a response path and confidential reporting channels, incorporation into the internal work rules and into contracts, and protective measures within five business days without requiring proof up front. It has been in force since August 6, 2026, and came with no transition period.

Has the pension reform changed payroll yet?

Not yet. The Constitutional Court sent nine articles back and the start date moved to April 1, 2027. Contributions today still run under Ley 100: 16% of base income, 12% employer and 4% worker.

Is there a pay transparency law in Colombia?

No. Almost everything circulating under that name is about Spain and EU Directive 2023/970. What still governs here is Ley 1496 of 2011, which was never given implementing rules.

Is the 2026 minimum wage settled?

The amount is, the rule is not. The Council of State suspended the December decree, and today the figure rests on Decree 0159 of 2026, expressly temporary, until the final ruling comes out. The value is still COP 1,750,905.

How do I check this myself?

Look the rule up by number and year in the Régimen Legal database or in the Foreign Ministry's legal compilation. Every text carries its status notes, which say whether it was repealed, suspended, or amended.

Those are the dates. What does not fit on one page is what has to exist in writing before each of them, and the other four rules that already require you to communicate something and to prove it landed.
